4th Graders Print!!!

We have been having a total blast printing in the fourth grade classes. After exploring a number of printmaking techniques, getting some hands-on experience with a printmaker AND getting to use the high school's printing press, students created some really beautiful and original prints from collagraphs, stencil printing, and block printing.

Lab Arts!!!

I hope you all enjoyed Lab Arts this past weekend as much as I did! It was such a beautiful show and I am so happy that here at Lab, we value our students and their fantastic talents! Here are a few pictures that I snagged! Thank you to all the amazing parent volunteers and some of my wonderful students who came out to help. (Claire! Katie!)

Welcome Back and Updates!

Welcome back to school after a long two weeks off!!! I can't believe there are just eleven short weeks left of this school year! So, before our break, we were lucky enough to have Angee Lennard from Spudnik Print Cooperative come visit our classes. While here, we did a super fun exercise in making own non-for-profit arts organizations. It was so innovative and exciting!

Then, yesterday, the 4th graders all went downtown on the Architecture Foundation's walking tour. It was beautiful outside, and we walked from the Art Institute to the Harold Washington Library and then to the Federal Building. What an amazing tour. I even learned way more than I expected!

Next, we have a really exciting event coming up next week. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (April 10-12th) will be our Lab Arts exhibition in Kovler Gym (see the flyer below). Every single student from every grade here at Lab (that have art class) will have a piece of work on display! I can't wait to see you all there with your families!!!!!
